SIX GARDEN SHEDS are all that remain of the row of houses in Millfield Manor in Newbridge that were gutted by fire on Tuesday.

Six houses in the Millfield Manor Estate in Newbridge were either partially or completely gutted by the fire which started at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Fire crews in Kildare spent the evening battling the fire and no injuries were reported. However, the homes were extensively damaged and have been torn down, with just their sheds remaining.

A man appeared in court on Thursday charged with the blaze. 39-year-old Daragh Ward, who has an address at a property in Millfield Manor, Newbridge, was charged with committing arson at number 65 Millfield Manor. He was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill courthouse on Wednesday of next week.

Mr Ward’s home was amongst the properties damaged in this week’s fire.

Today, Photocall Ireland photographer Eamonn Farrell captured the devastation of the fire.
