EACH WEEK, WE ask someone based in Ireland with a passion for interiors to share one photo of their favourite spot in their home.
Niamh Scott lives in Co Meath with her husband and children.
“We moved into this house five years ago and have renovated every room in the house since, as well as making some structural changes to the layout downstairs,” says Niamh.
“When we bought the house, the whole right hand side of it was a Montessori school, so we renovated this space to create my photography studio, an office and a larger utility room.”
I like clean lines and decluttered spaces. Most rooms in our house are based around white walls, with bold greens, blues and neutral tones.
This week, Niamh (@waitandseephotography) chatted us through her favourite spot: the space just off her kitchen and home office.
This room is the hub of downstairs – it’s where all of the noise is. Homework in the office or at the kitchen table, dinner in the oven, Netflix on the TV – from here I can keep an eye on everyone, cook dinner, check my emails, help with homework and break up any rows!
My family portrait of when my children were really small.
This space originally was quite dark so I knew I definitely to paint the walls and ceilings bright white to allow as much light in as possible. Depending on the time of day, the floors can give off a blue hue so that made up my mind when choosing the colour of the sofa.
I do a quick tidy every day to keep on top of things, but this picture was definitely taken after a deep clean.
Yes, the light fixtures are next on my list.
