LOCATED IN Monasterboice, Co Louth, Fieldstown Old School House offers more than meets the eye.
The grey pebble dash facade gives no hint of the beautiful exposed brick and stone walls inside, nor does it reflect the cosy feel of the 2,502 sq ft interior.
The entrance hall leads to the kitchen, where there’s ample country-style units, a Belfast sink and space for a dining table to seat six. Steps lead to the living room, where there’s a double height feature brick wall and log stove with a brick surround.
Perhaps the most appealing feature of this property is the mezzanine reception room, which is accessed from the living room. There’s a cosy lounge up here, with access to a balcony. Velux windows flood the space with natural light.
To the rear of the mezzanine, a feature stone wall separates the lounge from a picturesque viewing area, where a floor-to-ceiling window offers panoramic views out to the Isle of Man and the Mourne Mountains.
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor, all of varying sizes, and one bathroom on each floor. While neither bathroom has a bath, the jacuzzi in the rear garden should do the trick.
To the front, a gravel driveway leads to a secluded courtyard with original stone walls, surrounded by the beautiful countryside. Mature landscaped gardens provide plenty of space for younger members of the family to run around, while there’s a seating area ideal for barbecues on the patio.
Termonfeckin Beach is a 15-minute drive away, while Drogheda town can be reached within 10 minutes. The nearby M1 means the journey to the heart of the capital should take about an hour, with Dublin Airport a 40-minute drive away.
