FINDING A HOME that matches your budget without compromising your list of must-haves can be tricky, but we’re here to make that task easier.
Each week we round up a selection of homes currently on the market in Ireland around the same price point, giving you a snapshot of what a particular amount could get you.
This week, we’re looking at properties around the country with an asking price of exactly €500,000 – from a 1700-year-old renovation project in Co Kildare, to a semi-detached home with a modern extension in Cork.
If you’re looking for a semi-detached home with a modern extension, this Cork property might be the perfect fit. 41 Somerton Park has four bedrooms and five bathrooms, and includes a modern wood-and-concrete extension to the side and rear of the property.
The home has three separate reception rooms, a specialty designed kitchen, four bedrooms, one with a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite. It is located just a a 15-minute walk to Douglas village, and a 25-minute walk to the city centre and is surrounded by leisure amenities and great schools.
In Ennis, 2 Cahercalla Woods is a four-bedroom, five-bathroom detached house on a mature woodland site with raised decking, patios and mature shrubs. Inside, you’ll find over 3000 square feet of space, including various sitting rooms and an office, as well as solid oak flooring throughout.
The home has impressive architectural details throughout, starting with the pillared entrance, and continuing through the property with a solid teak staircase and feature fireplace surrounds.
Meanwhile, in Dublin, the same budget will find you at 54 Prospect Meadows in Rathfarnham. This three-bedroom, three-bathroom semi-detached home has been refurbished throughout, including an attic conversion as well as a full-width extension at the back.
Set in a quiet cul de sac, the garden is not overlooked in the rear, and the front driveway has off-street parking for two cars. Inside, you’ll find a newly renovated and expanded kitchen with polished granite countertops with a large dining area. The back garden is western-facing and has a detached gym/office as well.
Just west of the city, €500,000 will actually get you two houses – one of which is ready to move in right away.
Elm Hall House in Celbridge is a renovation in progress for someone to finish off to their liking. The property’s restoration was begun twelve years ago, but has yet to be fully finished, meaning you can put your own spin on it without undertaking the full project. The main property is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom house that was built in 1700. The property has been extended, and a new roof has been added, new floors and windows installed, and much of the internal work is complete.
Separately on the property, there is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom twelve-year-old bungalow that has never been occupied but is move-in ready.
