One dead, two injured after van and car crash in Swords

The dead man and the two injured parties were injured when the van they were travelling in collided with a car.

ONE MAN has been killed, and two others injured, when their van struck a car in Swords overnight.

The deceased man, aged in his 40s, was a passenger in the van when it struck a car on the Rathbeale Road at around 2:30am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the van and another passenger, both of whom are in their 20s, were taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, however.

The driver of the car which collided with the van was not injured.

The scene of the accident is being preserved for a forensic examination and local traffic diversions are in place.
