THE SIX NATIONS KICKS off this week and Ireland are up against the reigning champions France in the opening game in Paris. 

Unusually, the match is taking place on Thursday evening, having been rescheduled so to avoid clashing with the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan. 

Oddly enough, the only other time a game in the competition was played on a Thursday was in the 1948 Five Nations (back when Italy were not in the mix).

In what might be a good omen for Andy Farrell’s men, Ireland beat France in Paris that day.
