ONLINE PAYMENTS SITE Paypal is to create 100 news jobs at its centre in Dublin.
The positions will be created at the company’s global operations centre for Europe in Ballycoolin.
In hiring 100 people the company will bring its workforce in Ireland to over 2,500.
The move is in line with Paypal’s aim of employing 3,000 people in Ireland by the year 2018 – 1,600 in Dublin and 1,400 in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Louise Phelan, Paypal’s European vice president of global operations, says the announcement “is a strong endorsement of the quality of teammates we find here in Ireland”.
We’re looking for customer service professionals with fluency in English. The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting our customers and resolving their queries.
Unemployed
Paypal says that the new jobs will be “suitable for unemployed people”, something that the company is “particularly proud of”.
The roles however are being created specifically with “English-speakers” in mind, although the company does say that it currently has a number of foreign language positions open to interested parties.
The jobs will be in customer service while team leader positions in areas like customer support and risk are likewise being created.
Paypal is an online secure payments platform, generally involving a credit card, useful for when private citizens are looking to conduct secure transactions online with each other – DoneDeal and Ebay sales are two good examples.
Globally the company supports 179 million accounts.
The roles are available immediately and are expected to be filled by mid-April. You can find out more about the new positions here.
