Pedestrian in his 40s killed in collision in Co Kildare

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

A PEDESTRIAN HAS been killed in a road collision in Co Kildare.

Gardaí said they were currently at the scene of the fatal collision in which the man in his 40s died after being hit by a car on the R445-Monasterevin Road at around 6pm this evening. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene, where is body currently remains. No other injuries have been reported.  

The road is currently closed between Monastervin and Kildare Town and local diversions are in place. A technical examination will be conducted by Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.

Any road users, who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 5:00pm and 6:30pm this evening are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
