THERE MAY BE a job opening in RTÉ soon if Patrick Kielty decides to depart from The Late Late Show.
It was reported by the Irish Independent that RTÉ is currently in talks about extending his contract, but no agreement has been reached yet.
Staff on the programme have not been told whether Kielty will return when the next season begins in autumn.
Kielty took over hosting duties in 2023, becoming the fourth presenter of the flagship show after Gay Byrne, Pat Kenny and Ryan Tubridy.
If he leaves the role this year, he’ll have served the shortest stint of any host by far.
However, it would open up the opportunity to someone else.
If Kielty doesn’t return, who would you like to see take over?
