The Daily PollPEOPLE BEFORE PROFIT TD Paul Murphy is calling for a major overhaul of the current Leaving Cert exam, proposing to “get rid of the points race”.
As well as short term measures, in the longer-term, Murphy proposed students should be able to get places based on matriculation requirements – such as achieving certain grades in subjects directly required for their degree – rather than points.
He argued that this would give students better access to their desired degrees, as well as reducing “unfairness”.
