Man struck in the face during armed robbery in Co Down

Three masked men entered a flat in Castlewellan in the early hours of this morning and took a quantity of cash.

THREE MASKED MEN armed with firearms carried out a raid on a flat in Co Down, injuring one victim in the process.

The incident happened in the early hours of this morning when the three men entered a flat on the Ballyloughlin Road in Castlewellan. Two men who were in the property at the time of the incident were threatened and one man was struck on the face with one of the firearms.

A sum of money was taken during the robbery with the injury to the man not thought to be serious.

PSNI officers at Downpatrick would like to speak to any witnesses to the incident or to anyone who may have information.
