Man dies after his van collides with a tree in Co Cork

The man in his 50s died in the collision near Dromagh.

A MAN IN his late fifties has died after the van he was driving struck a tree at Dromagh in Co. Cork this morning.

The crash happened at about 10am on the N72 Mallow to Killarney Road at Dysert Bridge.

The man was the sole occupant of the van and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was then taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem is due to take place tomorrow.

The road is currently closed as garda investigators examine the scene and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was on the N72 at Dromagh between 9.45am and 10.30am to contact them at Kanturk Garda Station.
