Armed man steals money from safe and wallets at travel agent

The raider, believed to have a knife, ordered all employees into a back office and demanded they open a safe.

A MAN BELIEVED to be armed with a knife robbed a travel agent in Co Kildare yesterday evening.

The incident happened at Freedom Travel on Main Street, Celbridge at about 5pm yesterday.

Gardaí said a lone male entered the shop armed with was is described as a knife and threatened staff.

It is understood the man’s face was covered in coloured tights.

Manager Ciara Mooney said the raider ordered her and a colleague into a back office and demanded they open a safe. He took the contents of the safe, the amount of which is unknown, but was described as “substantial”. He also took wallets from staff members before fleeing the shop.

No customers were in the premises at the time. No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.
