Redundancies announced at Salesforce Ireland

The Department of Enterprise confirmed it has been notified.

REDUNDANCIES HAVE BEEN announced at Salesforce’s Irish base.

A spokesperson for the Department of Enterprise told The Journal this afternoon that it had been notified of the proposed collective redundancies at the tech multinational yesterday.

One source in the company told The Journal that upwards of 30 employees were being laid off.

Salesforce did not confirm how many people would be affected.

A spokesperson told The Journal: “We continuously assess our structure and rebalance as needed to best serve our customers and fuel growth areas.”

Rules stipulate that the Department of Enterprise must be informed if a company is proposing redundancies of 30 or more employees if it has 300 or more employees normally employed.

The Irish redundancies come just days after Salesforce’s CEO Marc Benioff confirmed that the San Francisco-based software multinational has slashed its customer support staff by 4,000 people this year as it increases its use of AI.

Salesforce had about 2,000 employees at its European headquarters in Dublin at the start of 2024. In February, it made 50 redundant. The company employs about 76,000 people globally.

The American company’s EU headquarters have been based in Dublin since 2000. It has developed a large office in Dublin’s docklands, Salesforce Tower.
