YOU PROBABLY CAN’T blame comedian Sharon Horgan for this tweet when it was revealed that her new sitcom was to star none other than Sarah Jessica Parker:
The super-talented Horgan, who wrote and starred in comedy Pulling, has become a big name in the past year thanks to Catastrophe, a comedy she also wrote and starred in alongside America’s Rob Delaney.
Horgan, who grew up in Meath, also wrote Divorce, whose pilot has now been picked up by HBO (home of True Detective, Game of Thrones and Girls), Deadline reports.
Further big news is that SJP is to star in the main role.
It’s going to be Parker’s first big series since she starred in Sex and the City, and she will play Frances, who tries to make a fresh start after a divorce.
According to Variety, Parker will also be an executive producer on the show, alongside Horgan. If all goes well with the HBO pilot, Horgan will be on board to co-write the rest of the series.
Comedy fans will recognise Flight of the Conchords’ Jemaine Clement, who appears in Divorce’s pilot (sounds like he might not be reappearing later in the series, though).
The series will also star Thomas Haden Church (as Frances’ soon-to-be ex husband, Robert), Talia Balsam and Molly Shannon.
