GARDÁÍ HAVE ARRESTED a 17-year-old girl and a man after seizing two kilos of heroin today with an estimated street value of €280,000.

Gardaí stopped and searched a car today in Dundrum, south Dublin.

One kilo of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of €140,000 was discovered.

A 32-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl who were in the car were arrested and taken to Blackrock garda station where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

During a follow up search of a house at Ballyogan Green, Carrickmines another kilo of suspected heroin was seized also with an estimated street value of €140,000.

The teenager has since been released, with a file being prepared for the DPP, while the man has been charged.

He is due in court on Wednesday morning.

The confirmation that the drugs seized are heroin is pending analysis.

The seizure was part of an on going operation by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau into the sale and supply of controlled substances.

The operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.
