The expected national rainfall at 11am

Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry and wind warning for Dublin and east

Separately, a wind warning is coming into effect in Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, and Waterford.

A STATUS YELLOW rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry.

It came into effect at 9am this morning and will expire at 9am tomorrow morning, Saturday.

Met Éireann has warned of localised flooding. Poor visibility could make travelling conditions more difficult.

Separately, at 11am, a Status Yellow wind warning is coming into effect in Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, and Waterford.

Loose debris and objects could be displaced by the wind.

It’s a wet and windy morning today nationwide, with rain extending northeastwards and turning heavy in places.

Southeasterly winds will become strong and gusty with gales at times on the south and east coasts.

The rain will gradually clear for bright intervals between showers as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 6 degrees in the north to 12 degrees in the south.

Tonight will bring a good deal of cloud overall with showers or longer spells of rain.

There’ll be some clear drier spells too.

Temperatures will reach lows of 5 to 10 degrees with mostly light to moderate south to southwest winds. They’ll be stronger along the south coast.

Saturday will be breezy, with showers and longer spells of rain forecast.

Through the afternoon, bright or sunny spells should develop from the south, with the rain and showers becoming more confined to Ulster. 

Temperatures will reach highs of 8 to 11 degrees.
