THE WEBSITE OF student grant support network SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) is back up and running this evening with just one day to go before the applications deadline.
Earlier, the group’s admissions site was rendered unusable with the amount of traffic being seen as students rush to get their applications in.
Speaking to TheJournal.ie this evening Graham Doyle, communications officer with SUS confirmed that the website was back up in working order.
“The problem has been rectified, everyone who’s trying to access the site can now do so,” he said.
The online applications system can be accessed at this link.
Earlier, Doyle told RTE’s News at One that his team were “working on the problems at the moment” as students struggled to access the applications portal.
“People are having trouble accessing the website at the moment, although there are a few hundred people in the system at present and we also received a few hundred applications this morning,” he said.
If you’re having difficulty I would say to contact your support desk.
Doyle confirmed that SUSI will be accepting applications after the midnight, 1 August deadline and added that some 15,000 such applications were accepted last year.
“I don’t want any fear out there with students, nobody will be disadvantaged, we’ll still accede your applications if you can’t get through,” he added.
The applications portal for third level support has been open since 23 April this year.
Anyone struggling to access the site or otherwise having trouble with their application is encouraged to contact the group’s support desk using the phone number and email below.
