A 38-YEAR-OLD MAN who died at a small festival staged in north-east Cork on Sunday has been named locally.

The incident happened at the Love is a Stranger mini-music festival at Ballyvolane House in Castlelyons in Co Cork.

The deceased has been named as popular DJ Mark O’Brien. 

O’Brien, who was affectionately known as “Beanzy,” was found unresponsive in his tent at the festival on Sunday morning.

CPR was administered by paramedics. However, the festival attendee was pronounced dead at the scene. 

O’Brien, who lived in Sheares Street in Cork city centre, was known for his passion for music. The coroner has been made aware of the death and an inquest will be held at a later date. 

In a statement, the team at the festival said that they were “absolutely devastated” to learn of the death of an attendee at Love is a Stranger. 

“Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends, and loved ones at this extremely difficult time,” said the statement.

“We are assisting An Garda Síochána and the emergency services in every way possible, and will not comment further while their inquiries are ongoing.”

Out of respect for O’Brien, the closing concert of the festival was cancelled.
