Temperatures set to climb into the 20s this weekend as dry and sunny weather to continue

Is it time to get the shorts and suncream out? Possibly.

AFTER A COOL start to the week, temperatures are set to climb steadily over the coming days, with highs of up to 21 degrees possible by Friday.

According to Met Éireann, high pressure will dominate for the rest of the week, bringing largely dry, settled conditions, and a noticeable warming trend.

Today will stay mostly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells, though it will feel a little breezy at times.

Temperatures are expected to reach around 11 to 14 degrees tomorrow, with similar conditions continuing into midweek.

From mid-week onwards, things begin to pick up. Thursday is forecast to be dry and sunny, with temperatures rising to between 13 and 18 degrees.

By Friday, much of the country can expect more sunshine and warmer conditions, with highs of 14 to 21 degrees possible, particularly in the west.

The good news continues into the weekend, as current forecasts suggest mostly dry weather with light winds and good sunny spells, alongside above-average temperatures for late April.

Some scattered thundery showers may develop at times, particularly in the southwest, but overall conditions are expected to remain settled.

As a result of the dry weather, there is also an orange fire notice in effect nationwide.

The Department of Agriculture has warned that areas with dead grasses and shrub fuels such as heather and gorse are most vulnerable.
