Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said the 50-year-old showed signs of “impairment” but passed a breathalyzer test for alcohol.

“But when it came time for us to ask for a urinalysis test, he refused, and so he’s been charged with DUI, with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test in the crash,” Budensiek said.

NBC local news affiliate WPTV showed a picture of the crash scene showing a sports utility vehicle flipped onto its side.

Donald Trump remarked that he “feels so badly” for his “very close friend”.

“He’s an amazing person, an amazing man, but some difficulty and I don’t want to talk about it.”

The reports come five years after Woods was seriously injured in a car crash in California in 2021.

Woods was also involved in a traffic incident in 2017, when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving, paid a $250 fine and attended DUI school.
