Two men die in four-vehicle crash in Tipperary

The deceased, a man in his early 20s and a male in his late teens, were occupants of one of the cars.

TWO YOUNG MEN died in a road collision in County Tipperary this evening. 

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to the four-vehicle crash which happened shortly before 6pm on a local road at Killeen, Ballinunty.

The deceased, a man in his early 20s and a male in his late teens, were occupants of one of the cars. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. 

Two women in their 20s, and travelling in a second car, were taken by ambulance to Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Six more people were medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.

The road remains closed while garda forensic collision investigators carry out their work. Local diversions are currently in place.

In a statement, gardaí said the local coroner had been notified and post-mortem examinations will be arranged. A family liaison officer has also been appointed.

Earlier today, a man in his 60s died after he was struck by a lorry in Co Monaghan.
