Man arrested in investigation into serious assault of man in his 80s in Tipperary

The injured man remains in critical condition in hospital.

A MAN HAS been arrested as part of an investigation into the serious assault of man in his 80s in Tipperary Town.

The injured man remains in critical condition in hospital following Friday night’s incident that occurred at St Michael’s Avenue in the town at approximately 9:35pm.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently detained under provisions of Section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co Tipperary.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and that they are continuing to carry out investigations.

They have asked for anyone who was in the area of St Michael’s Avenue between 7pm and 10pm on Friday and who has video camera footage – including dash-cam – is asked to make it available to gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station on 062 80670, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station. Investigations are ongoing according to gardaí.
