MUCH OF THE original residential architecture around Dublin dates back to the Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian era, giving our city a distinctive historical footprint.
This week, we’re looking at a selection of terraced period homes in the capital. These have two bedrooms each, so would work as a starter home or for buyers who don’t need too much additional space.
Read on to see terraced homes on the market right now…
Located across the road from Phoenix Park, 8 Infirmary Road is a Victorian era property that has been updated internally over time. Steps lead to the front door of the two-bedroom home, with the entrance hall leading into the open-plan living and kitchen area with stained wooden floors and a feature fireplace.
The family bathroom is on the ground floor, while upstairs there are two spacious double bedrooms. As well as having Phoenix Park literally on their doorsteps, residents at Number 8 can stroll to Smithfield within 20 minutes, while the city centre is less than a half hour’s walk away.
5 Gulistan Terrace is a bright and spacious property that comes complete with multiple distinctive period features including picture rails, panelled doors and a stained glass window. Upon entering the bright entrance hallway, the sitting room is to the left and overlooks the front of the property.
Double doors lead from here to the open-plan kitchen and dining area, which boasts a country-style design and an Aga. The rear window overlooks the south-facing garden, where there’s a spacious patio area and landscaped garden. The property’s two bedrooms are on the ground floor, as well as an en-suite bathroom and family bathroom. The villages of both Rathmines and Ranelagh are just a few minutes’ walk away.
A mid-terrace property, 11 Convent Road has been owned by the same family for more than 100 years and has undergone extensive renovations in the interim. Accommodation briefly comprises an entrance porch, living room, kitchen/dining room, two large double bedrooms and a family bathroom. Outside, there’s a west-facing communal courtyard.
Number 11 is just a two-minute walk from Dun Laoghaire town centre, while Dun Laoghaire marina and seafront is just a 10-minute stroll away. Commuters will benefit from DART and Dublin Bus services which run from here to the city centre.
It’s on the market for €325,000.
Coming to the market in turn-key condition, 56 Murtagh Road is a totally refurbished two-bed home with a light-filled interior. The accommodation briefly comprises a hallway, open-plan kitchen, living and dining area, a utility room, bathroom and two double bedrooms.
Number 56 was built in the late 19th century and is located in the heart of Stoneybatter, meaning popular eateries, shops and pubs are just a short stroll away. When heading into the city centre, public transport isn’t necessary as the walk will take just 20 minutes.
