The seizure was part of Operation Tara, which aims to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks.

The arrested men, who are both aged in their 50s, are currently detained pursuant to Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at garda stations in Dublin.

The acting assistant commissioner of the Dublin Metropolitan region, Jonathan Roberts, described the seizure as “yet another example of the relentless efforts by members of An Garda Síochána to target criminality that causes the most harm in our communities”.

“An Garda Siochána remains committed to bringing those willing to engage in the supply of illicit drugs before the courts.”

A spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
