GETTING BEHIND THE wheel of a powerful performance sports car is thrilling and exhilarating and really gets the adrenaline going, even if you are not going very fast. There is something very intoxicating about just knowing how much power is lurking under your right foot.
Getting out on the open road to stretch the legs of a fast car is one of life’s great pleasures and the dream of many a petrolhead.
We may never get the chance to test these cars out to their full potential on our roads here in Ireland, but we can still appreciate their beauty and potency and add them to our wish list.
We’ve rounded up some of the fastest cars that are available on DoneDeal now, from the dream car to the (slightly more) affordable.

2016 Audi R8 V10, €249,763
German engineering, outstanding performance and sexy supercar looks, this Audi R8 V10 has it all. Each R8 is built almost exclusively by hand by small, highly qualified teams which give the R8 its unique shape.

The Porsche 911 is one of the world’s most iconic sports cars and it is fast, capable and fun to drive. This particular model is the Turbo X50, which means it has a 450hp 3.6-litre twin turbocharged, intercooled, flat-six engine with four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission.
It gets from 0-100km/h in four seconds dead.

2015 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, €54,950
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 slinky coupe is one very slick machine. It has impressive performance figures, impressive pace and an impressive grippy four-wheel drive chassis.
Its 2.0-litre petrol engine makes 375hp and 475Nm of torque, has a top electronically-limited speed of 250km/h and can do the 0-100km/h dash in just 4.2 seconds. Impressive.

2015 Volkswagen Golf R, €36,950
The Volkswagen Golf R is fast, fun and functional. It is a hoot to drive especially on the back roads as it feels is very capable and planted thanks to that 4Motion all-wheel-drive grip.
The R rides 20mm lower than the regular Golf and the bumper features deep air intakes to help keep that 300hp 2.0-litre engine cool. It goes from 0 to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 250km/h.
