LOOKING FOR A car that is an icon of the motoring world, that has its roots in racing and comes with an impressive heritage? Then you want a MINI, my friend. Not only do Minis have plenty of street cred, they have quirky looks, excellent driving characteristics and are great fun to drive.
Minis have been around for almost 60 years so we’ve rounded up five Minis from the past five decades to help you indulge in some Mini mania.
1970s: 1974 Mini Convertible, €3,200
What could possibly be cooler than a classic 1,000cc Mini? A classic convertible Mini, that’s what. This model looks smashing in its red paint with contrasting brown soft-top and we bet it is a blast to drive with the roof down.
1980s: 1985 Mini, €2,500
Check out this funky little two-door Mini with its go-faster red stripes and cool contrasting white roof. This is Mini looks the business and is sure to attract admiring glances wherever it may roam.
1990s: 1997 Mini Cooper, €9,250
This 1.3-litre Mini Cooper makes no attempt to disguise its racing roots with its striking, in-your-face fiery red paintwork and white bonnet stripes. It has had a complete body restoration and the engine has been rebuilt.
2000s: 2007 MINI Cooper S, €5,950
This 2007 MINI Cooper S looks feisty with its bonnet scoop and twin exhausts. Inside, the car’s sporty credentials are further enhanced with John Cooper Works Recaro sports seats and chrome pedals. This is one MINI that really does stand out from the crowd.
2010s: 2017 MINI John Cooper Works, €39,495
Looking for the most powerful MINI to date? Well, this three-door JCW is the car for you. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol offers performance, and plenty of it, including 231hp and 320Nm of torque to play with. Nice.
