THERE’S NO SIGN of any let-up in the cold, cold conditions just yet.
Met Éireann has issued an ‘orange alert’ weather warning for tonight.
It comes into effect at 8pm, and covers all of Leinster and Munster. Temperatures as low as minus six can be expected.
A less-serious ‘yellow’ warning applies for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal — where it could dip as low as four below.
Things aren’t looking all that better for the coming days, either.
Here’s the latest outlook:
Cold, mostly dry weather expected for the rest of the week, over the weekend and early next week. Temperatures won’t be as low coming closer to normal values over the weekend but we can still expect frosty nights.
We’ll still be hitting around five below tomorrow night — with conditions easing a little by the weekend.
However, heading into next week it will still be “mostly dry and rather cold with night frosts”.
