Pedestrian in her 70s killed in road collision in Rathcrogue, Co Carlow

The male driver of the car (aged in his 20s) was uninjured.

A WOMAN IN her seventies has died after being hit by a car while walking in Rathcrogue, Co Carlow.

Gardaí said they are investigating the collision, which took place on the N80 at around 6:30pm this evening. 

The women’s body has been removed from the scene and taken to the Mortuary in Waterford Regional Hospital, where a post mortem will take place, gardaí said.

The male driver of the car (aged in his 20s) was uninjured.

The N80 in the townland of Rathcrogue, Carlow is currently closed and will remain closed overnight, a Garda statement said.

A technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators will take place in the morning and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Gardaí.
