Kebab shop Zaytoon says 'rising costs' mean it's closing its Camden Street branch

Its three other branches in Parliament Street, Sandyford and Swords will continue trading.

A LONGTIME DESTINATION for people looking for many looking for grub during a night out in Dublin will soon be no more, as Zaytoon has announced it’s closing its Camden Street branch.

It’s the second closure in as many months, having recently confirmed the closure of its Ranelagh branch.

In a post on social media tonight, the kebab shop group cited “rising costs and increasing pressures” as the cause for the closure.

“We are truly grateful for your loyalty and continued support over the years,” they added.

However, its three other branches in Parliament Street, Sandyford and Swords Pavilions will continue trading.

Parliament Street was the first Zaytoon branch when it opened its doors in January 2000, with the Camden Street outlet following five years later.

Iranian business partners Jamshid Kamvar and Azad Shirazi wanted “to do justice to the humble kebab” when they set up Zaytoon, as outlined on their website, and had been expanding their operations in recent years across Dublin.

“Thank you for being part of our journey and for your continued loyalty. We look forward to seeing you soon at any of our other locations,” Zaytoon’s social media post read tonight.

The closure is likely to add to the ongoing debate over the costs of doing business in the capital, where concerns have persisted about challenges facing smaller firms in the years after the pandemic.
