Updated: 7.20pm

POLICE IN THE UK have arrested a man who entered a bowling alley this afternoon and took a number of hostages.

The man entered the MFA Bowling Alley in Nuneaton at around 1pm and screamed at people to leave the building.

Trained negotiators were sent to the scene to try to get him to release the hostages.

A number of flashbangs were detonated in a bid to detain the man.

Police in the UK have said that the situation has been resolved and that the suspected hostage taker has been brought to hospital.

Earlier, Warwickshire Police said they were dealing with an “ongoing incident” at the MFA Bowling Alley in Nuneaton.

An adjoining cinema and restaurant were also put on lockdown.

Police confirmed this evening that the “incident is unconnected to any terrorist activity”.
