Gardaí search for thief after blade stolen from athlete

The blade was custom designed for the athlete and is of no use to anyone else, gardaí said.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after a carbon fibre blade was stolen from an athlete.

The specially-designed blade, which was custom fit to the leg of the person it belonged to, was taken from a car in Monaghan on either Friday night or early on Saturday morning.

The athlete is due to take part in an athletics meet in Berlin next week and will be unable to take part without the blade.

Gardaí have appealed for any information about the theft of the blade and said that they are seeking its safe return.

“The blade is a custom fit for the injured party and is of no use to any other person,” a post on the An Garda Síochána Facebook page said.
