Man assaulted by intruder in aggravated burglary in Cork

The suspect fled the scene and a 45-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

GARDAÍ IN BANDON in Cork are investigating an aggravated burglary which took place in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A man in his 50s was assaulted by an intruder, suffering minor injuries, at his home. The burglary took place at a house in Derrigra, Enniskeane at about 12.30am yesterday.

The suspect fled the scene and a 45-year-old man was arrested a short time later in relation to this investigation. He was detained at Kinsale Garda Station under the provisions of section four of the Criminal Justice Act.

He appeared before a special sitting of Clonakilty District Court at 10am today. Investigations are continuing.
