Two due in court after break-in at pub near Maynooth

The incident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.

TWO MEN ARE due to appear in court today charged in connection with a break-in at a pub near Maynooth in Co Kildare early yesterday morning.

The two men were arrested as part of an ongoing garda operation targeting burglary and will appear before a special sitting of Kilcock District Court at 10.30am.

Aged in their 20s and 30s, they were arrested at 4am yesterday morning by gardaí from Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth who were responding to an intruder alarm at the pub in Beaufield near Maynooth.

Gardaí say the men were wearing balaclavas and armed with crowbars and were arrested at the scene.

The two are currently being detained at Leixlip garda station and an investigation is ongoing.
