Patrick- they put the main Garda station in Leixlip, two smaller ones in Celbridge and Maynooth.
Maynooth is a university town with a huge amount of students, Celbridge is the biggest town in north Kildare.
The Lucan Garda station is a main station and borders leixlip.
What twits decided to put the main station in Leixlip?
Any Garda planners want to respond or was this a political decision to generate a few votes?

Well sadly Patrick this does not show that. How many pubs were robbed across the country last night and we haven’t heard about it because they got away. It’s great that this was stopped but the closing of stations is still something to be seriously looked at.

The planning of new stations is entirely a function of the Gardai and is decided on the basis of information or date which we as members of the public wouldn’t necessarily be privy to. That’s why the system works.
As an addendum we currently have the highest number of police stations on a population basis when compared to England Wales Scotland and Northern Ireland and we have more Gardai than at the height of the Northern Troubles!

So lets say 2 from each station….. So possibly 6 garda went….. And you think thats because two many garda had nothing better to do. What happens if only two garda went and the burglars beat the sh#t of them. They were responding to a situation where they didnt.know how.many people they were dealing with. I think they did a good job. They caught them. Great job…. garda doing there job and doing it well

Some people are never happy! If they got away no doubt you would be criticising as well. Raiding a pub is different to a house they could have had guns so why take chance after what happened last month to that poor detective

there are 10 guards in maynooth if you count the women, surely 10 guards could manage 2 guys? btw, that pub isn’t near maynooth, it’s actually in the town

This call to gardai was as a result of an alarm activation, so they did not know in advance how many offenders there might have been! as the media often convey people who commit this type of crime more often than not do it in groups of four to a car and sometimes numerous cars and armed with weapons! If you woke up to a noise and found one masked intruder coming up your stairs would you ring and specify that you require one garda to your house or would you be happy to see as many as were available arriving to help you?
