Sorry that’s an awful thing to say. Police / Gardaí are doing a great job in this country and they bring them to the courts with out beating them it’s the system that’s letting us down. Police brutality is never right and thank God we don’t have much of it here.

a small fine, a few hours community service or even a month or 2 custodial is no punishment for and experienced criminal, its par for the course, this elderly lady will live in fear now for quite awhile if not for the rest of her life, i hazard a guess that you have never been burgled or maybe you would understand how it feels, i would have no problem giving this miscreant something to remember

The police beating him up (although I take your point he would def deserve it) would make a weaker case in court, he gets off ready to rob old people again.
