Man arrested over aggravated burglary of elderly woman’s home

The incident happened at a house in Tullamore, Co Offaly yesterday evening.

AN ELDERLY WOMAN was threatened by a man and had a sum of money stolen from her home in Tullamore in Co Offaly last night.

A man has since been arrested in connection with the incident.

The aggravated burglary took place at the house in St Brigid’s Place in Tullamore at around 6pm last night when the lone man forced his way into the woman’s home and threatened her.

He stole an amount of cash before being disturbed by the woman’s daughter returning home and fled the scene.

Neither woman was injured in the incident and gardaí arrested a man in his 20s a short time later in the Tullamore area in connection with the incident.

He is being detained at Tullamore Garda station.
