Body recovered off Clare coast on third day of search for missing man

The alarm was raised shortly after 11am on Monday morning.

A BODY HAS been recovered from the sea in Co Clare this afternoon, on the third day of a search for a man missing from his home near Quilty.

The discovery was made off Caherush Point near Quilty at around 3:35pm.

Stephen Mungovan (20) was last seen late on Sunday night, it’s believed he fell from a cliff early on Monday morning.

The alarm was raised at 11.20am on Monday morning and the Kilkee and Doolin Coast Guard units along with a rescue helicopter were tasked.

A large numbers of locals were involved in the search.

The body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick for a post mortem examination.
