A MASSIVE OFFICE development in Cork city is planned to bring 360,000 square foot of office space to the city.
O’Callaghan Properties are this week submitting planning applications for the €90 million Albert Quay development at the city’s docklands.
The project consists of four separate buildings of five and six storeys to be built on a 2.25 acre site bounded by Albert Quay to the north, Victoria Road, Albert Road and Albert Street.
The project will create 350 construction jobs and will be capable of hosting some 3,000 employees when fully occupied. If planning permission is granted, construction of the project will commence in late 2016 and will be complete in May 2018, according to the developers.
A statement by O’Callaghan Properties described the project as “potentially transformational for Cork”.
This project makes a really powerful statement for Cork, Ireland’s second city. It opens up the way for further large scale foreign direct investment projects hitherto not capable of being hosted in Cork or for alternative projects requiring a very significant quantum of space.
“The site in Albert Quay is the premium location for such an ambitious project, being located within a few minutes’ walk of the city centre, with nearby bus and train stations and adjacent to the South Link Road making it easily accessible from east and west.”
