Gardaí investigate after elderly woman dies in house fire in north county Dublin

A number of units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the fire in a house in Walshestown, Lusk.

GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after an elderly woman died in a house fire in north county Dublin this evening.

A number of units of the Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the fire in a house in Walshestown, Lusk at about 6pm.

The fire was extinguished and the body of a woman in her 80s was removed from the building.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman’s body was taken James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown where a post-mortem will take place.

Gardaí said that the matter is currently under investigation.
