THE IRISH LEAGUE OF Credit Unions (ILCU) has offered a €50,000 reward for information leading to arrests and prosecutions in connection with the death of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe.
The reward was offered on RTÉ’s CrimeCall programme last night with gardaí renewing their appeal for anyone who knows something about the shooting dead of the 41-year-old to contact them at any station or on their confidential hotline.
Yesterday evening gardaí appealed for witnesses who may have information about a navy Volkswagen Passat with an 08-D registration plate which was stolen during the course of a burglary in Clogherhead sometime between 11:30pm last Tuesday night and 4:30am on Wednesday morning.
The funeral of the father of two will take place at 12.30pm at St Joseph’s Redemptorist Church in Dundalk before he is laid to rest at Lordship cemetery. Newtalk reported that large numbers of people travelled from all over the country yesterday to pay their respects to the garda at his family home.
Today the Dáil and Seanad will adjourn for several hours today to allow Ministers, TDs and senators to attend the funeral. Taoiseach Enda Kenny and President Michael D Higgins are among those expected to attend.
