Garda renew appeal for woman missing since 2000

Gardaí say they have new information which suggests a white van was in the area Sandra Collins was last seen in, in Killala, Co Mayo.

GARDA IN MAYO HAVE ISSUED a fresh appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of Sandra Collins, who has been missing since December 2000.

Collins, 29, was last seen in a takeaway called the Country Kitchen in Killala, Co Mayo, on the night of 4 December 2000.

Born in 1971, Collins is described as being 5ft tall, with a slim build, and had short brown hair and red highlights when she was last seen.

She was wearing black trousers, a maroon polo neck jumper, a beige sleeveless hooded jacket and black boots at the time of her disappearance.

In a statement today, gardaí said that recent public appeals had encouraged new witnesses to come forward, but they are still seeking the assistance of the public in finding her.

They now believe that a white van was in Killala around the time of Collins’ disappearance. Anyone who may have information regarding this vehicle or who saw it in the Killala area on Monday, 4 December, 2000, is asked to contact gardaí on 096 20560, on the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or through any garda station.

Investigators are also urging anyone who may have information in relation to her disappearance but who has not yet contacted gardaí, to do so.
