TWO AMERICANS AND a British person have been gored in the San Fermin ‘Running of the Bulls’ festival in Spain’s Pamplona.

The incident has happened on the first day of the seven-day long festival and has seen eight others injured, according to The Independent.

The six bulls, which each weigh in at around half a ton, run through the city’s streets chasing those taking part for around two and a half minutes before making it to the city’s bullring.

Among those gored was 38-year-old American Mike Webster.

He has been attending the San Fermin bull running festival for the past 11 years and has ran with the bulls on 38 occasions.

His accident today saw him gored in the armpit by one of the bulls.

In total the route taken by those involved today measured 850 metres. The festival, which attracts hundreds of visitors each year, has also proved controversial in recent times.

Before the festival began a protest was staged in the town by animal rights activists PETA.
