Husband and wife team elected in the early hours of this morning
Catherine Martin was elected just after 5am today, seven hours after her husband Francis Duffy.
AS THE SAYING goes, the couple that runs together, stays together.
Ok, it may not be an actual saying, but it’s appropriate in this case. A husband and wife team running for the Green Party were both elected to local authorities in Dublin overnight.
Francis Duffy, a lecturer in DIT, was elected to South Dublin County Council in the Rathfarnham area just after 10.36pm last night.
Meanwhile Catherine Martin, the Deputy Leader of the party and a secondary school teacher, had to wait until just after 5am today to have her election to Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown in Dundrum confirmed.
The Green Party Twitter accounted tweeted these photographs of them at 5.19am, looking remarkably wide awake given the late (or early) hour. Aw.
