Notice how at no stage in that broadcast was his nationality mentioned. The Irish media would be very quick to insert nationality, race etc when reporting crimes.We could learn a thing or two from the aussies.

My guess here is, a few irish lads drinking at the Irish bar (I’ve been to that bar) they see the camera and the people getting interviewed and then one decides to be the big man I opts or “dared” to go over and “kick ur man up d arse” unfortunately the guy getting interviewed is a politician and coincidently happens to be giving out about alcohol fuelled violence in the area! I feel sorry for the Irish guy as I don’t think there was any bad in what he was doing, just completely stupid,
Also I live in oz and the Irish actually aren’t that bad there are much worse than us, we tend to get drunk and mess, at worst a fist fight as apose to or nationalities using weapons and all kinds of madness etc etc

Must have missed it but where did it say his “attacker” was Irish? Seems like a bit of a set up. Convenient that just as he is peaking about assaults it so happens to him! The fact that a squad car was there, saw the incident and decided not to stop smacks of a set up. I also find it hard to believe that the politicians aides/cameraman did not step in when a second man intervened.

100% fake. Guy crosses the road – cameraman just decides to switch focus of camera during interview with politician to this guy and what do you know he kicks the politician in the leg. Couldn’t be real and all the cringey ‘citizen’s arrest’ bullshit after just makes it look like a sketch from a Chris Lilley series.

Very embarrassed and ashamed. The Irish used to be loved around the world but now it’s idiots like this that are ruining our once good reputation. These guys should be dealt with seriously. Also perhaps when visas are being given out so freely, a warning should be attached about representing their country in the best light possible. We are guests in another country and should act accordingly.

I accept that it was a far from intelligent thing for chap to do but this seems like a silly example to be making of someone. The man was hardly taking a running go at him and from the proximity he was standing to him at the time of the offending kick it is hard to imagine it was much different to how one might tap a football to someone along the ground. I’m not saying the guy just rubbed him on the leg with his foot but Mr. Elfrinks reaction to the horrific incident brings to mind some of the more colorful displays we’ve seen in the Premier League.

To be honest I’m more embarrassed about the shapes the young fellow was throwing as he crossed the street.
