A WOMAN FROM Rialto in Dublin has spoken of her delight at finding out she won almost €115,000 in the Lotto.
The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she checked her lottery ticket when buying some carrots for her Sunday lunch.
“I was making the casserole yesterday when I realised I’d no carrots, so I popped out to the shop.
“I’d bought a ticket for the Lotto draw the day before and I’d usually not bother to check it until the following week, but I checked it there and then in the shop. When I was told I had to contact the National Lottery about my prize I didn’t know what had happened.
“I thought at most that I’d won €11,000. I saw the first two numbers and thought that’s what it must be.”
She had actually scooped €114,752, which she picked up at the National Lottery headquarters today.
Trip to Lourdes
The woman played her usual numbers for Saturday’s draw, made up of family birthdays and anniversaries.
She bought her ticket in Centra on the South Circular Road in Rialto, and matched five numbers and the bonus number to win the prize.
Speaking about her plans for the winnings, she said: “I’ll buy a new pair of shoes and I might go to Lourdes … but I think my prayers have been answered already.”
