A 19-YEAR-OLD man was found dead in his Monaghan home this morning following an assault in Omagh overnight.
The PSNI issued a statement this evening to say it had been made aware of the sudden death of the victim, who lived in Emyvale.
He had been assaulted at a licensed premises on John Street in Omagh* at about 2am but made his way home after the incident. His body was discovered at 11am today.
Both the PSNI and An Garda Síochána are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of the teenager. His body has been removed to Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan where a post mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow to establish the cause of death.
The scene at Emyvale has been sealed off pending a full Garda technical examination.
Police in Omagh believe the deceased was assaulted by a male of stocky build with ginger- or blond-coloured hair. They have urged him to contact them to assist with their enquiries.
*An earlier PSNI statement named the street as Kevlin Street. That information has now been updated.
