Uniquely Dublin

Open thread: what makes Dublin special?

Have your say…

IS IT THE Spire? Or Moore Street? Temple Bar or St Stephen’s Green?

What makes Dublin so unique, so special? Those are the questions being posed by Dublin City Council’s Uniquely Dublin initiative.

Launched this morning in conjunction with the Little Museum of Dublin, the competition is worth €10,000 and aims to “reassert Dublin’s identity in a creative and innovative way”.

The competition is divided into seven categories, including animation, film, photography, graphic design, written word, music and visual arts. A judging panel will make a shortlist of 14 entries which will then be displayed in cinemas, on buses and on billboards across the city. A public vote will determine the overall winner.

Organisers are looking for the entries to reveal what “makes our capital so wonderful”. So today, we’d like you to tell us what you think makes Dublin special? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
