Poll: Have abortion protests gone too far?

Two abortion protests are making the news today ahead of the Dáil vote on abortion legislation tomorrow. Are they crossing the line with their tactics?

TWO SIGNIFICANT ABORTION protests are making the news today ahead of the Dáil vote on the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Bill tomorrow night.

Fine Gael TD Derek Keating says he was forced to move out of his home after it was targeted by anti-abortion protesters. Meanwhile, on the other side of the debate, the website of anti-abortion group Youth Defence was hacked this morning and replaced with a message claiming to “blow the lid” on the group, as well as a list of the email addresses of everyone who subscribes to the Youth Defence newsletter.

The abortion debate is always a difficult one in Ireland, with recent months seeing a deluge of campaigning tactics used – including demonstrations, poster campaigns, and social media debates – by both sides.

Today we’re asking: Have abortion protests gone too far?

Poll Results:

Yes, they've crossed the line (2229)
No, all the tactics used so far have been fair game (2027)
It's only one side which has gone too far (1788)
