President Obama accepted the invitation of the Irish people to grace our shores. He surprised us all no less Enda Kenny just 15 minutes before he announced it to national television and radio that he is in fact going to come to Ireland in May. However, we people of Ireland would think it only a very quick stopover if he only spent 5 hours in the land of his ancestor. The people of Ireland would like to think that the very least they would stay would be overnight so that Enda could show true Irish hospitality to the American President. I think we deserve that at least.

I suppose we have to let him in out of politeness but hopefully he’ll just stay for a quick cup of tea and then move along.

Let’s be realistic, we are a very small country looking for help. We should be flattered and grateful that a man with so much responsibility is making an appearance in a country where the prime minister is probably on a higher salary than he is!

Maybe he couldn’t get a visa.

It can only be a good thing both from a community, goodwill and international exposure perspective. Time is somewhat irrelevant once people get to see him drive by and make a speech of some sort. The duration of his visit will always be outlasted by the memory of it and that’s what really counts.

I think 5 hrs is not long enough. He should at least stay over night because it will be better for people living in Tipperary to get to see him – Like me i live in South Tipperary and it is in Moneygall witch is half in Tipperary and half in Offaly. He should at least reconsider staying over nught because from ireland to England (His destination) only takes 50 mins.
