AFTER DAYS OF protests, government figures emerged from an emergency Cabinet meeting yesterday evening and unveiled a €505m fuel supports package they hoped would placate protesters.
The package included further excise duty cuts to petrol and diesel at 10c a litre, a 2.4c per litre excise cut to green diesel, and the deferment of an increase in carbon tax until the budget in October. It also contained subsidy schemes for hauliers, farmers, fisheries, and other transport operators.
Opposition TDs have said it didn’t go far enough, and criticised the lack of action on lowering the cost of home heating oil.
So today we’re asking you: What do you think of the new fuel package?
