Poll: Should Michael Lowry resign?
Michael Lowry has insisted he’s not going anywhere – do you think he’s right?
MICHAEL LOWRY will address the Dáil this afternoon on issues raised in the Moriarty Report, which found that he was “far from being a disinterested minister” and had “secured the winning” of the 1995 mobile phone licence for Denis O’Brien’s Esat Digifone.
Despite Enda Kenny’s statement that “in an ideal world he should resign”, a defiant Lowry has insisted he will not be resigning his seat and that “nobody will decide when I leave this house. Michael Lowry is not going anywhere.”
What do you think should happen next? As the law stands, the Taoiseach has no right to force a member of the Dáil to go – but should Kenny make it clear that he wants Lowry to step down? Should Lowry resign of his own accord?
